The Attainable Garden Project. Episode 4. Seeds, Transplants, Soil Health and Visitors.

This week is the time to plan your garden plants and seeds!

Think about the plants and seeds you want grow in your garden! Do you want to grow them from seed? Save money? Or, save time by purchasing plants?

What do you like to eat? What do you want to grow?

Let's create a plan and get ready to plant next week! Below is my recommended plan of what you can plant in your 4x8 garden, along with my recommendation on what to start from seed and what to plant as a transplant. This is just a recommendation, you can plan what you like to eat!

By planting types of plants and timing plantings, you can maximize harvests in this small space, that is part of why I selected the plants below. As we grow together over the season, you will see how this works!

If you are following my planting guide, now is the time to get the seeds listed below. You will be able to buy the plants at our greenhouse as it is time to plant them.

What will you be able to grow in this 4x8ft garden space? Approximately:

16 Heads of lettuce – Plants or seed

16 kohlrabi – Plants or seed

10 Bush Bean plants - Seed

2 Pepper plants - Plants

2 Dwarf Cherry Tomato plants - Plants

1 Summer Squash - plant

1 Cucumber -Plant

8 Spinach - Plants

4 Swiss Chard - Plants

2 Basil - Plants

Marigolds, Sweet Alyssum and Nasturtium plants

This will vary based on your preference, the seeds and plants available to you and your location (if you are in a different weather area than we are).
