Romanticizing agriculture? Why yes, yes I am. It is beautiful. It is romantic. It is incredible. There is nothing else I’d rather do. 

Are there major struggles? Are there huge stressors? Enormous mental health concerns? Is it hard? Do pests and diseases destroy crops and livestock? (Like all the cucumber beetles and slugs I’ve been battling…) Are there crazy and sad things happening in the agricultural industry? Is there a major disparity in farm income? Absolutely. Should we ignore all these issues? Absolutely not. 

But am I choosing to focus on the amazing, beautiful, joy filled life I live as a farmer? Yep. You better believe I am. Because what we focus on, is what grows. What we see, is where we go. What we cultivate, is what thrives and is ultimately what we harvest.
